What is quad drum?

Quad drums, also known as quadruple toms, are a set of four small- to medium-sized drums arranged horizontally on a drum kit or percussion ensemble. They are typically tuned to different pitches, allowing for a range of melodic possibilities in a drumming performance.

Quad drums usually vary in size from 8 to 16 inches in diameter and are positioned above the bass drum or mounted on a separate stand. They can be played with drumsticks or mallets, and can be used to create intricate, complex rhythms and melodies.

Quad drums are commonly used in marching bands, drum corps, and drumline ensembles, as well as in rock and jazz drumming. They add a unique, dynamic element to a drumming performance and can be used to create a full, rich sound.
